Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24 NIV
It’s easy to get lost in our daily routines. We often find ourselves feeling stuck in a rut, believing we’re missing out on bigger, more world-changing opportunities.
It can feel like our lives are on hold, waiting for that one big moment that will finally make us happier. We wait for purpose to arrive.
But the truth is, many of us are already living in purpose—we just fail to see God’s hand in it because it doesn’t come with the applause we associate with living a purposeful life.
We’ve romanticized the idea of “finding your purpose” so much that we overlook the value in the ordinary.
But, a life of purpose is simply a life lived for God. It’s not about fame, wealth, or recognition.

It’s about honoring God in all we do—whether it’s lovingly caring for the children He blessed us with, serving the husband we prayed for, or being faithful in a job that feels mundane and without future prospects.
Isn’t it a comfort that the Lord doesn’t see things the way we do?
He reminds us that His ways are not our ways—they are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).
Ruth lived a life of purpose through her loyalty to her mother-in-law. Esther lived a life of purpose by choosing faith in a moment of great risk. Sarah lived a life of purpose by honoring her husband and believing God’s promise for a child.
These women are celebrated as heroes of faith not for grand achievements, but for manifesting godly qualities in the simplicity of everyday life.
Don’t become so focused on chasing something bigger that you miss living your ordinary life for God. Seek His hand in everything you do.
See your life as an assignment from the Lord, and live it with all your heart—not for your own pleasure, but to glorify Him. That is how you live in purpose.
